SolitAir obtains approval for EU flights
Dubai-headquartered cargo airline SolitAir has been granted authorisation to operate cargo and mail services into the European Union (EU).
The airline said in a LinkedIn post on 31 March that it had been designated an ACC3 (Air Cargo or Mail Carrier operating into the Union from a Third Country Airport) by the Belgium Civil Aviation Authority.
SolitAir said the designation, effective from 19 March, demonstrates its commitment to compliance, security, and supply chain integrity.
“SolitAir is building the connections that global trade demands. This is not just a milestone. This is a statement of where SolitAir is headed,” said the airline.
“We are grateful to the Belgium Civil Aviation Authority for this recognition and to our entire team whose dedication to excellence made this possible.”
Air carriers are required to be designated as an ACC3 for each non-EU airport from which they fly cargo or mail into the EU.
To gain ACC3, an airline must acquire EU Aviation Security Validation performed by an Independent Validator that has been accredited by an EU Member State.
Once the ACC3 designation has been registered in the EU database, the ACC3 status is granted for a maximum of five years.
ACC3s must ensure that all cargo and mail carried to the EU is physically screened to EU standards or comes from a secure supply chain which is EU aviation security validated.
SolitAir obtained an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) General Civil Aviation Authority in March last year.
The airline started off operations by focusing on the Middle East and Asia, but also planned to expand its network to Africa.
