Magma and MidnightZulu Expand Nairobi–Liège service
Magma Aviation and MidnightZulu have launched an additional service from Nairobi, Kenya to Liege, Belgium, to help meet seasonal demand on the route.
The new service began on 20 January and will operate until the end of May to increase capacity on the Nairobi-Liege route.
The service complements Magma’s four existing Nairobi-Liege services and will support key regional trade, including the Kenyan horticultural industry.
GSA MidnightZulu orchestrates the uplift of around 26,000 tonnes of perishable cargo annually on Magma’s scheduled freighters from Kenya and provides handling, customs clearance and onward trucking within Europe and to the UK.
The company’s operational base is in Kenya, while it has a presence in the UAE, Belgium and UK.
“This additional Nairobi–Liège service is an important step for Magma Aviation as it underlines our long-term commitment to the Kenyan market and to our customers operating within it,” said Paul Hoatson, Magma Aviation’s commercial and network planning director.
“We are optimistic that the inclusion of this extra service acts as a taster for further increases to Magma & MidnightZulu activity in Nairobi in future,” added Thomas Frankum, MidnightZulu’s chief executive.
MidnightZulu recently acquired Netherlands-based logistics firm Balkenende Airfreight and Perishable to expand its trucking network within Europe.
Dublin-based freighter operator Magma is supporting its network developments by growing its fleet. The company plans to triple its fleet capacity by 2030 through additional 747F and 777F aircraft acquisitions.
