WFS to expand at Brussels Airport with Aviapartner Cargo takeover

WFS is in the process of takingover Aviapartner’s cargo handling operations at Brussels Airport.

Aviapartner yesterday announced the proposed sale of Aviapartner Cargo to the SATS-owned cargo handler, stating that the carve out of the cargo operations would have no impact on its passenger services at the airport.

The proposed sale is subject to customary conditions and approvals. Terms of the deal were not revealed.

Following completion of the agreement, WFS will take over the activities currently performed by Aviapartner Cargo, including cargo handling, full-freighter ramp handling and cargo and mail handling activities.

“All parties, including Brussels Airport Company, will work together to ensure a smooth transition of services,” the airport’s cargo community, BRUcargo, said in a newsflash.

Aviapartner Cargo has had a presence in the Brussels cargo zone since 1980.

“Aviapartner and WFS are committed to working closely with all stakeholders throughout this process to ensure its successful completion,” Aviapartner said in a press release.

“Aviapartner’s core business is to provide Airport Ground services to Passenger Airlines,” it added.

WFS already has a presence at the Belgian airport, where the services it offers include cargo handling, trucking, pharma and cold chain.

It also offers e-commerce & Freight Forwarder Handling (EFFH) services from the Belgian hub.
