The Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics reported a revenue of 74.43 billion birr for the first half of the 2025/26 fiscal year, surpassing its target of 65.5 billion birr and marking a 59 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
The figures were presented by Enterprise CEO Abdulber Shemsu during a performance review by the Standing Committee on Public Enterprises Affairs of the House of People's Representatives.
Abdulber stated the enterprise handled 40 percent of the 4.7 million metric tons of dry cargo imported through the Port of Djibouti, with fertilizer transportation alone growing by 191 percent year-on-year.
Committee Chairman Melese Mena commended the agency as a model for public enterprises, highlighting its contribution to foreign exchange earnings and noting that 99 percent of transported assets were delivered without damage. He emphasized the need for stringent asset management and institutional sustainability.
The review concluded with directives for the enterprise to build on its current performance to better serve national trade and economic requirements.
